More than £6.6 million has been made available to kick-start housing and commercial developments in the county.

The Greater Lincolnshire Enterprise Partnership has been awarded the money, which is aimed at bringing forward vital infrastructure projects, such as transport improvements or flood defences, which will clear the way for development projects to go-ahead.

Ursula Lidbetter, chairman of the Greater Lincolnshire Enterprise Partnership, said:

“Ultimately, this is about boosting the economy and creating jobs. We’ll be looking to help existing schemes that have already made good progress, but are in need of funding to reach the next stage - this will be the quickest way to kick-start business and housing growth. And we’ll be focusing on the things Lincolnshire does best, like agriculture, tourism and renewables.”

The money comes from the national Growing Places Fund.
